Consider It Yoga

Joy King & Tina Tolar

S3 - EP7 - From Pain to Joy

From Pain to Joy

"When Tina came to the studio to film this episode, she approached Joy with a request: once every two weeks, she wanted to offer a free yoga class for anyone in pain—those overwhelmed by life, struggling with addiction, or carrying emotional burdens of any kind. These sessions have been deeply moving. There have been many tears. They are raw, emotional, and honest. They go straight to the core of why we are doing what we’re doing with the Angels and Demons Podcast."

About Joy King:
Joy brings together her love of yoga, art, and vibrant living to create a truly transformative wellness experience. With more than 20 years of yoga practice and 36 years in public education, she has cultivated a teaching style grounded in purpose, connection, and personal growth. After earning her 200-hour RYT certification in 2015, Joy began sharing her passion more deeply within her community, teaching alongside her husband, John, in a dropout prevention program in Mayport Village.

At the heart of Joy’s work is a deep belief in gratitude, love, and community as the foundation of a meaningful life. She weaves these values into every role she holds—mother, wife, sister, friend, and educator. Her philosophy centers on empowering others to recognize their strengths, set intentional goals, and pursue continuous growth. She is devoted to creating opportunities for students to explore their passions, build strength in body and mind, and cultivate genuine, lasting connections. Joy believes that each person carries unique gifts meant to be shared, and that belief is the guiding energy behind Consider It Studio.

Raised in the Florida Keys, Joy developed a lifelong appreciation for nature, adventure, and active living. She enjoys traveling and hiking with her husband and their sons, Mason and Henry, and aspires to visit every U.S. National Park. This spirit of exploration and inclusivity is reflected in her vision for Consider It—a welcoming space rooted in mindfulness, belonging, and community for all who enter.

About Tina Tolar:
Tina began practicing yoga in 2001, first drawn to it for the physical benefits. Over time, she discovered the deeper gifts of the practice—an opening of the heart and a path inward that continues to shape her life. In 2019, she earned her 200-hour RYT certification from the Dallas Yoga Center and fulfilled her dream of creating a home studio, offering students an intimate and welcoming space to practice. Her teaching style is gentle, nurturing, and deeply supportive, guiding students inward through Yin, Somatic Healing, and Therapeutic Yoga. Tina also shares Recovery Yoga in her community, helping others explore the mind-body connection through the lens of healing and addiction awareness
